Leaving the Bushuis Library

When I applied for my job back in 2009, I was in awe of the Bushuis library building. It was just before the books moved to the attic, so for my inner library geek this was heaven indeed. Lots and lots of books, the wooden beams, the Escher-esque staircase. I loved it.

So last wednesday when the books moved out of the Bushuis building, it felt like the end of an era (granted, in my case the era lasted for only five years)

Books leaving

TruckMy colleagues are currently working very hard to get the library ready for the opening in September. Just yesterday, I got a picture that the books arrived safely. And if I understood correctly, H. and O. got the books on the shelves in  record time (well done, boys). If you’re interested in the new library located at Roetersstraat 11, check out Monique Kooimans photoset. The books aren’t in the photo’s, but you’ll get an idea of what it will become once it’s finished.

Update
I’ve just found out that Monique has taken even more Library Learning Centre photo’s. I’ve added titles to give you an idea of what you’ll find. Check them out, they are beautiful and with the weather that we’re having this weekend..
